Can you tell us a little about how you started writing; was it something you have always wanted to do?
I seriously started writing for publication about two years ago. I have always wrote, but for my own entertainment. I write what I like to read and I enjoy creating worlds to inhabit and heroes to love. Writing standard romance did not make me happy; I wanted to go behind the bedroom door and watch. And when I discovered erotic romance, I knew I was home.
What do you consider to be the key elements of a great story?
The key elements of a great story are: characters that you can love or relate to, a plot that entertains and – for me – enough sex to turn me on. I always fall in love with my heroes and I live vicariously through my heroines. It is my intention that every book I write will make the reader laugh, cry and sweat – if I do those three things, I have succeeded.
Could you tell us a little about how you develop your characters?
My characters come from my heart. The ideas come from everywhere – people I meet, my husband, newspaper articles, actors. I write up a biography of each character and build them a personality, history, as well as a physical description. Now, that’s not to say that it does not change sometimes – my characters tend to get a life of their own and they surprise me at what they do. But that only makes it more interesting.
Who has been your favorite character to write?
I am currently writing a book called “Her Magic Touch” and I have completely fallen for the hero and the heroine. This is one of my McCoy boys from Tebow Ranch – the Hell Yeah! Series. Joseph has been terribly hurt in a dirt bike accident. He is paralyzed from the waist down and doesn’t want to live as half a man. The Sheriff – a good friend - who is from New Orleans, recommends a physical therapist who is known as a healer. Cady has a magical touch and has been known to perform near miracles with her therapy. There is so much going on in this book – I have fallen head over heels for both characters. But there was so much I didn’t know about paraplegics and the difficulties they face. And Cady was a new type of heroine for me – she is plain and only grows beautiful after she is loved. Like I said – I am totally infatuated.
The most challenging?
My heroine in “HEART IN CHAINS” was a female Mossad agent and she was a challenge to write about. Her name was Aliyah Sharon and she is a kick-ass woman with a soft heart. Her hero was a Dom and she refused to be dominated. Talk about fireworks. To complicate matters, she had been tortured and would be called upon by her government to make the ultimate sacrifice. There was so much going on in this book that I had to stay on my toes and the research was grueling.
Have you ever found that you didn’t like your Hero or your Heroine?
No, luckily, I have always liked my heroes and heroines.
If so, what did you do to change that?
But, if I found myself in a situation where I did not like them – I would stop and rewrite it until I did.
Can you tell me a bit about your most recent/upcoming release?
My most recent release is the 3rd in the Hill Country Heart series about the Stewart brothers. “Bobby Does Dallas” is the name and it is about a sexy Texas boy. Bobby Stewart is a man of many talents. He can ride a bull, catch a football and please a woman – all, seemingly, with one hand tied behind his back. It’s all in a day’s work for one of the most eligible bachelors in the Texas Hill Country. He’s wanted by the Dallas Cowboys and half the female population of the Lone Star State. But one stormy night, he meets Cecile Fairchild and she turns his world upside down. Bobby falls head over spurs for this ‘older’ woman, whom he pursues as hard as a defensive lineman trying to sack the quarterback. Bobby takes Dallas by storm and shows Cecile that he’s one hot-hunky Cowboy who just won’t give up on love.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
When I need to unwind and relax – I read or I cook. My favorite thing to cook is Creole and Cajun food. Since I grew up in New Orleans, this is my home food. Another thing I brought with me from home was my belief in the supernatural. I’ve been known to haunt the local cemeteries with cameras and recording devices. It may sound strange, but ghost hunting is relaxing for me, too.
Is there a genre you haven’t done that you would like to explore in the future?
I am about to write a historical erotic romance with another author. His name is Paul Martin and we are in the planning stages. Paul is a great writer and you will be seeing more of him, soon. The novel that we are working on will be set in the south, just after the civil war. We’re trying to decide how to share and split the process – my thought is – he writes the action and I write the sex, but we’ll see.
Tell us about your favorite restaurant.
My favorite restaurant is Copeland’s in Shreveport, Louisiana. It is our traditional place for birthday lunches and special occasions. The food they serve is scrumptious and is cooked with New Orleans flair.
Do you listen to music when writing?
No, I do not listen to music while writing. I am easily distracted. My taste is music is so much different than the rest of my family. I love Elvis – all things Elvis, and then I like zydeco (Louisiana music) and I adore rap. I’m a big Little John, Eminem, Kanye West, Little Wayne and Usher fan.
Do you feel like some stories write themselves a soundtrack with specific music?
Yes.
If so, what book and what kind of music influenced it?
I have written three books that deserve a sound track. “Unchained Melody” is obvious – a strong love torn apart by circumstances beyond their control. “Scarlet Fever” had a strong Elvis theme and the most surprising was “Bobby Does Dallas” – I actually worked the Dallas theme into the book. You may not remember it – but it was the rousing melody that hailed the start of the weekly show that featured J. R. Ewing and is still played at a lot of Dallas Cowboy games.
Does your significant other read your stuff?
No, not really. He reads ‘parts’ of it and since I write erotic romance, I’ll let you guess which parts. However – he said he would read more of it if I would consider getting the books illustrated.
Plotter or Pantser? Why?
Panster – because my characters will not behave and when a scene takes off in a direction that I had not planned, I must follow it and see what happens.
What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is gumbo. I cook my own roux in the oven and fill the fragrant stew with chicken, sausage, shrimp, green onion and wild spices. Served over rice it is the food of the gods.
What are your thoughts on love scenes in romance novels, do you find them difficult to write?
Yes, somewhat – but I have been told by a majority of my readers that I write really, really good sex. I have been told my sex scenes are luscious. I take that as a compliment. I write sex scenes that turn me on. If it doesn’t do anything for me – how can I expect it to appeal to my readers? The one challenging aspect – because I’ve written 9 books and have that many more in the works -is how to make each sex scene fresh and unique to the characters and the plot.

My next release will be “HER MAGIC TOUCH” – Hell Yeah! #3 and “Spanish Eyes” which is the sequel to “Heart in Chains”. Secret Cravings will release
“T-R-O-U-B-L-E” and “A Wishing Moon” in August and September, respectively and – oh, Lord – I have a dozen others in varying stages of completion. I write fast, as long as I am happy – so here’s hoping I stay in a perky mood.
Who are some of your favorite authors, and if we were to visit your home, what books would we find on your bookshelf, end table, floor or e-reader?
My favorite authors are Maya Banks, Sarah McCarty, Lorelei James and Lora Leigh. My ereader is jampacked with nearly 600 erotic romances – hey, I write what I like to read.
If you could be any character of any book or movie, who would you be?
I would love to be Denzel Washington in the movie FALLEN. I can read Hebrew and Aramaic and when Denzel’s character was trying to figure out how to battle the fallen angel Azazel – I would have known what to do. I could have saved the day – and kept that Denzel cutie alive.
